Kanvus Artist 95 Review

If you end up here than you must be looking for Kanvus artist 95 or Kanvus artist 127 / 106 review. I know because I search high and low for this product review and I only found some YouTube videos that aren’t helpful.

Kanvus Artist 95 is a graphic tablet made exactly for artist produced by KWORLD brand. It’s the smaller version of Kanvus Artist 127 and can be used for drawing, as a presenter or for scribbles.

I saw Wacom Cintiq tablet the other day, the specs were 5000 LPI, 1024 pressure sensitivity and 200pps response time. The only difference of Kanvus artist 95 with Cintiq lowest end would be no LCD screen, less 1000 lpi and Kanvus pen needs battery. Cintiq is a high end animated graphic tablet from Wacom, while Kanvus 95 is low end yet the spec is not that much difference for the basic needs.

The actual size of the whole tablet is 13.5 inch x 10 inch. So it’s quite big. I imagine Kanvus 127 would be even bigger but its light and they provided bag for Kanvus artist 127. They didn’t provide any worthwhile bag with Kanvus 95 as it still would fit any school bags out there.

Kanvus Artist 95 came with 4 cd. 1 installation cd, 1 tutorial CD, 1 Corel photo impact 12Se cd and 1 Mac installation cd. The installation is pretty simple. Pop in installation cd, install and plug and play usb. I have tried most graphics software available and every each of them working fine with my Kanvus. Among the software I tested is; Photoshop cs4, manga studio ex4, Corel painter 11, and Ms Paint. By the way I’m using win7.

The pen is a bit bulky as it uses triple A battery but not to the point that it’s unacceptable. It takes some time to get used to. It has 2 buttons that would act as left and right Mouse button.

Now, most of you would consider this tablet for drawing. Let me tell you this is my first time ever using tablet. After getting used to the pen and the sensitivity of it I manage to draw decent picture after fiddling over 7-24 hours after purchasing.

The top of the tablet is made of glass, and the drawing area is plastic like. They provided a laminated cover for your Kanvus working area so that you won’t scratch your tablet. I scratched mine while testing aligns of my screen. Make sure you didn’t do the same mistake as I did.

The cover is a bit smooth slippery like. I couldn’t make straight line properly yet because of that but you pros out there would find a way to get over this. I am a beginner so I take much more time. Try and take a pen draw it on your laminated file case and that’s how it feels using the cover.

My pc is connected to two monitor. The 2nd one is a little bit bigger than the one I mainly use for pc. The tablet kind of didn’t recognize it as a 2nd screen so it aligns its working area in the middle of both screen.

To fix that I plug out my 2nd LCD and it works just fine on my main screen now. I think you could fix that by doing alignment fix.

You could also use it to write notes and chat messenger such as MSN n GTALK or YM. There’s this box pop out whenever typing option appear. You could just scribble there and press enter. I try using it with gtalk, it works but why bothers? Using Keyboard is easier.

So is it worth buying? Let me tell you something. The last time I seriously draw anything was about 10 years ago. Few days before I ended up picking this because someone told me I should draw again and I saw the specs are almost similar to Wacom Cintiq. Yet it’s not as expensive and has a big working area than Wacom bamboo pen tablet. The price for Kanvus Artist 95 is the same as Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch 4×6 inch. It’s a bargain.

In my opinion the pictures I drew is good for someone who hasn’t draw anything seriously for the last 10 years, and had never touch any tablet b4. Let’s just say that I love this tablet. I woke up earlier than usual just to play with it.

The rest is for you to make your decision.
