Nasi Goreng USA

Kat dungun ni payah nk cari nasi goreng usa. Aku fes taim mkn nasi ni pun kat n9. Minggu lepas aku sekeluarga keluar p makan dkt kedai seafood near stesen petronas batu 5.  Silap plak tak igt nama betul kedai ni . Restoran ni dah lama bertapak kat dungun, tak salah aku ms aku sekolah rendah lagi dah wujud. Old school la kira. Dr dulu sampai skrg kedai dia masakannya mmg best. Kalau ikutkan, yg plg faymous makan kat sni adalah masakan Tomyam.

Antara menu yg aku tgk dkt menu dia hrtu, ada la nasi kerabu pelbagai jenis, ns grg , ns berlauk ( paprik etc )  , kerang rebus , tomyam , kuew teow grg etc , soup tlg sup ekor dan sbgainya.  Menyesal plak tak capture gambo menu.   Yg bagusnya, kalau ikutkan masa kami dtg tu, kedai ramai jgk org. But we didn’t have to wait that long to be served. So i’m quite happy spending 4.50 with great service, great food and great view.

Mostly yg dtg ke kedai ni adalah family yg baru kahwin ank satu and family besar2. Kereta pun semua kereta besar2 je parking.  Tu menunjukkan betapa kedai ni faymous kat Dungun.

Kat mana arah sbnr kedai ni ? payah jgk nk explain.  Kalau ikut dr arah stesen petronas batu 5 , ada simpang depan dia. And ada restaurant yg aku ckp lembab nk mampus hrtu. dr simpang tu , ke kanan ke arah Sura , krg akn nmpk 1 kedai sblm simpang masuk ke balai besar.  kemudian ada la label SEA FOOD besar.

i will edit this post when i remember that restaurant name.

Mek Yam’s Stall

Alrite, today i wen’t out with my girl and we went for a drink at Mek Yam. Just next to crossroad SRK Sura . I ordered 2 ABC’s , keropok lekor and pisang goreng. All cost at RM5 .ABC stands for air batu campur. A bit about food history.

Formerly, it was made of only shaved ice and red beans. Today, ice kacang generally comes in bright colours, and with different fruit cocktails and dressings. Several varieties have also been introduced which contain aloe vera in some form or another, such as in jelly form. Often, a large serving of attap chee (palm seed), red beans, sweetcorn, grass jelly, cubes of agar agar and chendol form the base. Evaporated milk is drizzled over the mountain of ice. To cater to the palates of the modern customer, some stalls have even introduced novelty toppings like durian, chocolate syrup and ice cream. There are also versions that shun the multi-coloured syrup and are served with just a drizzling of gula melaka syrup instead.

Keropok lekor, A popular and the most visible fried snack in Terengganu, the keropok is made of fish meat, ground to a paste, and mixed with sago. Coming in two main different forms, the long chewy ones are called ‘lekor’, while the thin, crispy ones are called ‘keping’. Keropok is best eaten hot with its special chili dip. The one we’re seeing here is the long chewy one.

Pisang Goreng is banana deep fried with flour and sugar.

So, all of these are main traditional dish for terengganu’s people. If you ever visit dungun and mek yam’s stall , make sure you try these

Bad Hitman Movie

The new movie, Hitman, based on the game series and starring Timothy Olyphant, hit theaters today after much anticipation. So how is it doing? According to the critics, not well. Currently, it’s only garnered a 13% positive review score on Rotten Tomatoes, and one of the six positive reviews is actually for the movie, Enchanted. So if you throw that one out, that takes it down to 11%. As a fan of the games, I find that pretty disheartening. On the plus side, this does make for some hilarious reviews. Here’s one of my favorite quotes from one by Peter Sobczynski of EFilmCritic.com:

“You know how people will sometimes describe a bad action movie as being like watching someone else play a video game? This one is so uninvolving that watching it is more like listening to someone reading out loud from the game’s instruction manual.”

Ouch. Guess that’s another video game movie down the toilet. We’ll have to see how it does at the box office though.
